Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data the Arcane Life app ("the app") collects, why, and what you can do about it. Arcane Life is made by Villads Valur, an independent developer based in Denmark, who is the data controller. Contact: info@arcane-life.app.
Summary
- You can use the app as a guest. Guest games stay on your device.
- If you create an account, we store your profile, friends, settings and online games in Google Firebase, hosted in the EU.
- We collect crash reports and anonymous usage statistics to keep the app working and improve it.
- We do not sell your data, show ads or track you across other apps and websites.
- You can delete your account in the app at any time.
What we collect
| Data | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Account ID (a random user ID created by Firebase Authentication) | When you create an account | To identify your account |
| Email address | When you sign up with email and password, or with Apple | To sign you in and reset your password |
| Sign in with Apple identifier, and name and email if you choose to share them | When you sign in with Apple | To sign you in. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only receive a private relay address |
| Profile: username, first and last name, profile photo (optional), when your profile was created, updated and last active | When you set up and edit your profile | To show you to friends and other players |
| Friends list | When you add a friend | To let you play with friends |
| Online games: players, life totals, format, winner, start and end time | When you play a game while signed in | To sync games between players and show your game history |
| App settings (for example default format and starting life) | When you change settings | To keep your preferences across devices |
| Emails you send us: your email address, name and the message | When you contact support | To answer you. Emails are forwarded to our inbox through ImprovMX |
| Crash reports: stack trace, device model, iOS version, app version, a random installation ID | When the app crashes or hits an error | To find and fix bugs (Firebase Crashlytics) |
| Usage statistics: screens viewed, features used, session length, device model, iOS version, app version, approximate country, a random app instance ID | While you use the app | To understand which features are used and improve the app (Google Analytics for Firebase) |
Crash reports and usage statistics are tied to random IDs generated for your app installation, not to your name or email. We do not collect your advertising identifier (IDFA), precise location, contacts or anything from other apps.
Guest mode games, and some preferences, are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.
Who can see your data
- Other signed-in Arcane Life users can see your username, name and profile photo, for example when searching for friends or in a game you played together.
- Players in a game can see that game's details, including the names and life totals of everyone in it.
- Your settings are only visible to you.
Service providers
We use Google Firebase (Google Ireland Limited) to run the app: Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Crashlytics and Google Analytics for Firebase. Google processes data on our behalf under the Firebase data processing terms. Account and game data is stored in the EU. Crash reports and analytics data may be processed by Google in the United States, covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. Apple handles Sign in with Apple under Apple's privacy policy.
We do not sell or share your personal data with anyone else, and we do not use it for advertising.
Legal basis (GDPR)
- Contract: account, profile, friends, games and settings are needed to provide the app you asked to use.
- Legitimate interest: crash reports and anonymous usage statistics, to keep the app stable and improve it. You can object at any time by contacting us.
How long we keep data
- Account, profile, friends and settings: until you delete your account.
- Support emails: as long as needed to help you, and no longer than 2 years.
- Online games: games are shared with the other players, so they are kept after you delete your account. Your profile is removed, so the games only keep the random account ID and the player name shown in that game.
- Crash reports: up to 90 days.
- Usage statistics: up to 14 months.
Deleting your account
In the app, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. This deletes your login, profile, username, profile photo, friends list and settings. If you cannot sign in, email info@arcane-life.app from the address linked to your account and we will delete it within 30 days.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw consent. To use any of these rights, email info@arcane-life.app. We reply within 30 days. You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) or your local data protection authority.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you think a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections and protected by access rules so users can only change their own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. For bigger changes we will let you know in the app.
